our varied wood and wetland birdlife from your cottage window
beautiful setting, far away from the hustle and bustle of life…
Quack Cottage enjoys its own, large sunny, south-facing, fenced garden above the stream. It’s acroos the old bridge from Higher North Mill. Relax in an idyllic traditional Devon cottage with a spacious open-plan living/dining room, exposed beams and a wood burning stove in a stone fireplace. It sleeps up to 4 people, one double bedroom, two singles.
An old bread oven (non-functioning) in the side of thick chimney walls adds to the charm of this “chocolate box” cottage, festooned with roses, jasmine, wisteria and honeysuckle. The sitting/dining room is tiled with rugs over. The modern fitted kitchen is in a more recent extension with a ‘stable door’ into the garden so you can smell the roses as you cook. It has an undercounter fridge, electric oven and hob, washing machine, kettle, toaster and microwave as well as a seperate undercounter freezer for you to use. The floor is tiled.
Enjoy Quack Cottage’s huge, south-facing streamside garden (fenced) – guests love sitting above the stream for sundowners or alfresco meals. Lovely flowering shrubs, a herbaceous border by the sitting room window, and your own log shed. Deckchairs too so you can follow the sun from sunrise to sunset.
Upstairs, both the double bedroom and single bedroom have wooden window seats offering south-facing views over the valley, stream and lawns. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a wash basin and a loo. Downstairs is a further single bedroom with its own handbasin, views through the wisteria to the garden.
Relax by the lovely stone fireplace with log burner, perfect after a day on the beach. The sitting and dining room are open plan, there’s good coat, boot and storage under the stairs. The modern, fully-equipped kitchen has a stable door to the garden so you really can smell the roses.
Quack Cottage has an open-stair bannister, important to know if you have toddlers.
“Such a beautiful location”
We have just arrived home from a very relaxing peaceful week in Quack cottage. The scenery was breathtaking, so quiet and the ideal place to unwind. The cottage was so clean with biscuits for the family and doggy biscuits for our 5 golden retrievers…
